Preliminary Arboricultural Report

For any new development project, it's essential to give careful consideration to the trees present on site and how the development might impact their health and long-term viability.

At Arbor Express, we conduct comprehensive assessments of these trees to determine their suitability for retention or the need for removal to accommodate the development. In cases where retention is necessary, we ensure compliance with AS-4970-2009 (Protection of Trees on Development Sites) for their protection.

By conducting a preliminary arborist report, we equip developers and architects with critical information about potential design limitations imposed by on-site trees. This proactive approach helps prevent wasted time and resources on architectural designs that may be unfeasible due to the need to protect specific trees.

Preliminary Tree Assessment

A Preliminary Tree Assessment is usually conducted at the same time as the Site Survey and before a Development Application. This information is used to help with the layout of the proposed development.

The Consulting Arborist will collect the following information:

  • Tree is numbered with a tag
  • Species identified
  • Canopy size
  • Tree’s condition known as Useful Life Expectancy (The SULE Rule)
  • Retention value, Low, Moderate or High
  • Tree Protection Zone (TPZ)
  • Structural Root Zone (SRZ)

The tree location plan shows the location of each tree with its tree protection zone. The retention values, low, moderate and high are indicated by colour to help with the selection of trees to retain, if any.
